We send our troops across the big blue sea

For a cause that no one in the country believes

We hope the enemy will have a change of heart,

even though every day they pledge to tear us apart.

The cause we fight for is dead

But children every day are required to stand up and pledge

to a country that doesn't even listen,

Its no use, we are trying to speak to a broken system.

The men in office say the war now is not the way it was in the past,

thats why they should pick up a rifle and see how long they last.

We say goodbye to our soldiers with a kiss

not knowing if thats the last time we'll touch their lips.

we lose sleep every night

In hopes that they dont have to go out and fight.

Every possible outcome races through our mind

Even though they tell us "they'll be fine"

My cousin is in the 101'st

but to the government whats he worth?

Just another body that can easily be replaced

and we just want him home, and safe.
