Through Her Eyes

I'm going to take you somewhere
Somewhere you don't want to go
A place that is hidden
Covered up
A sad truth
I'm putting you in a very real place
A place no one wants to be

First, I will tell you who you are
You are a twelve year old girl
You live in the slums of a large city
Innocently, you begin your walk to school
A man follows you
You are unaware
Until its too late

The details are hazy
You remember the man grabbing you
Someone putting a needle in you
Now you are in a car
You are chained to the doors

You stay this way for quite some time
You don't know where you are
Or where you're going
A cold fear digs its claws into your soul
The outcome will not be good

The car has stopped
You are unchained
The doors are unlocked and opened
A man quickly grabs you
He drags you into the building

The apartment door is closed and locked
You are chained to the bed like you were in the car
There you are forced to service any man who comes through
You are now a piece of merchandise
A source of income
You are now a slave

The repition of men coming to defile you goes on for weeks
Until suddenly it seems freedom is coming
You are unchained from the place you've been for so long
 The man grabs your wirsts
He takes you out of the building
To the sidewalk
Freedom is not what awaits

You were bought by another man
Like an animal
Just a piece of merchandise
To be bought and sold and used
However it pleases them

You are now part of the Human trafficking industry
Unfortunately for you
You are not the 1% that gets saved
and your captor is not the 1 in 100,000 that is convicted of his crimes
You are trapped in this life
There is no ray of hope
You forget what freedom is
You forget what being a child is
Your life has been stolen

You have seen into the world of human trafficking
Through a girls eyes
The reality is cruel
The statistics are terrifying
But we can make a change
Even if its just to open the eyes of the blind
To keep such a terrible truth from being covered up

Yes it is painful to recognize
But don't the boys, girls, men and women
Trapped in this world
Don't they deserve freedom?
