I used to be afraid of losing my eyesight

I used to be afraid of losing my eyesight.

But now I’m afraid of losing my mind.

The world is beyond crazy, I find.

I turn around and see my life in hindsight,

A shaded memory, a darkened twilight.

I used to be afraid of being blind,

Living in a world designed

For those not considered finite.

The world is bleak, dark

Even with the ability to see.

I walk afraid of the shadows,

Sidestepping an unknown spark.

I walk, afraid, never serene.

How could this have been foreshadowed?
