Gogga's Song

If I had to pick one friend to be friends with for the rest of my life

Naturally, I would pick you.

Yes, you, the one person I can stand for hours on end

You have my unconditional positive regard

As do brussels sprouts, only not to the same extent.

You are the best friend I’ve ever known,

And the only one I’ve had for so long

And shared such close conversations with.

You’re like the Annie to my John Denver

Only in a platonic way,

And we don’t get divorced,

But you fill up my senses just the same.

When I see things that remind me of you

I smile

And when I think of the inside jokes we share

I laugh.

When I think back on all the fun times we’ve had together,

I hope there will be more

Even if it takes extra planning, because I know you’re often busy.

I hang onto all the old pictures I nagged you into drawing for me

Because they remind me of when we used to draw together

Even though you think they’re no good.

Every now and again

I stumble across another, and I remember

All the chuckles we had, making art together

And I look forward to the day

When we can make art together

Again.
