The Willow

The willow sways,

As I play in it's shade.

Life changes,

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

On graduation day.

Mother cries,

I go away,

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

On my wedding day.

I say my vows

And move away.

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

On the saddest days.

We bury mother in the shade.

She goes away,

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

As I come home.

I care for father,

His mind is gone.

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

On my children's wedding days.

They move away,

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

As my grandchildren play.

They play in the shade.

Until they are called away.

The willow stays.

The willow sways,

As I'm called away.

Back to mother.

Back to father.

I'm buried in the shade.

I'm gone,

But the willow stays.
