When I Grow Up

When I was little, the most common question seemed to be

What do you want to do when you grow up?

Going to space used to be my dream

So that I could discover aliens and cool new stuff.

Then the question went away for a while,

But when I was starting junior high, it came back.

Thinking I knew the answer, I would smile

And say, "I'll be an inventor, and help crack

The world's problems."

Pretty soon, it was gone once more,

And it didn't return until high school came around.

My choice of classes would open the door

To my path in life, and I just frowned

Because I was torn between two.

Chemistry or law, which one to pursue?

This whole time, a debate has been happening inside my head.

Which path should I take,

And where will they end?

I had a big decision to make.

To this day, I'm still not sure which path to choose,

But as long as I'm happy, I don't think I can loose.
