In time, Past & Present, Good Luck

Dear V,

You are not at all okay right now,

But that’s okay, you still have time.

You’re ten.

Not to let you down,

But things aren’t going to go the way you expect them to,

Rainy days will turn into storms

Which will turn into flash flood warnings.

Life will seem steady, then you turn

Thirteen.

What a daunting number.

They always did say it’s an unlucky number.

You will fall for who you think is the one

Until one seems like just a number again

You will be just fine,

I didn’t raise a quitter

There will be a moment when you realize it,

Time doesn’t stop for anyone

Time doesn’t stop for you

Nor I

One day there will be an accident,

But remember, I didn't raise a quitter

Good luck.

Love,

V
