Struggle of the Ignorant

You cannot possibly comprehend,

You cannot possibly fathom,

The heart of a homeless man you call animal,

The feelings of an abused child you deem witless,

The ambitions of a shy woman you ignore,

The life of a human being amounting to wonders.

You, as a whole in society, are blind,

You, a pawn in chess, are amaurotic,

Ignorant of their everyday struggle,

Corrupted by the norm of things,

Insightful to only your own success,

Shortsighted in your own future.

How can one be so foolish?

How can a whole people be so mindless?

Are we so excited by power,

that we forget to aid anyone that is not ourself?

So selfish that it’s “me first, then you”?

So condescending?

Come now, one your eyes!

We struggle here, in this day and age!

We fight our own war in this very country.

We battle our own neighboors with inanity!

This is a malady, a sickness, bred into us…

By our very own home.

I cannot possibly know your struggle,

You cannot possibly know mine,

We could be the animal,

We could be the witless,

We could be the ignored,

Or we could be the wonders.

Society couldn’t possibly choose which though.
