Story Of My Life

Secret Letters

Patrisha Atayde

Patience is a virtue that best describes me

As you listen to my poem, I hope you would see

There was a time, about seven years ago,

Reminiscing those days is such a pain, you know?

Is it fair for me that my mom and dad

Said their goodbyes to me? Oh, that was so sad

How long before I can see you again?

Always on my mind, I will wait till then

LIfe went by slowly, for four years straight

On that day, May 1st 2013 that was the date

Reuniting with them after several years,

Really changed my perspective, It brought me to tears

At long last, my redeeming qualities began to show

Independence, patience, and kindness all started to grow

Now to answer the question as to who am I,

Eager, respectful and polite I won’t deny

After all the words that have been said

There’s more to me, this is not the end

Aiming for the stars is what I believe

Yet, giving up too easily is a pet peeve

Did you discover the secret that lies in my poetry?

Each first letter of every line reveals my identity

This poem is about:
Me
