Sound In A Silent World

Let me start by stating this important fact:

I was born partially deaf and blind, and colorblind.

I could not speak. I could not write.

I could not learn. I could not interact.

I lived in perpetual darkness and horrific silence.

Then, I found relief. I found some answer.

But how can you find what you cannot see?

Simply by using the other three senses you have.

That was the key to unlock my potential.

Where does poetry lie in this tale, you ask?

Why, it's right in front of you.

Taking the abstract and making it significant.

Turning vibrations into sound.

Turning bumps on a page into a story.

It's poetry in the real world.

I am a real-world poet and the everything is my muse.

So now I challenge you, the audience.

Walk around your town. Feel the vibrations of the cars driving by.

Listen to the cracks in the sidewalk.

Let your environment paint the picture.

Then you too can join me as a real-world poet.

This poem is about:
Me
Our world
