Signs

Ecclesiastes 5:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 As goods increase,
so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
except to feast their eyes on them?

.

Signs

All around us they are screaming

some obnoxious and some just drenched.

All seem to hunger for attention

with an appetite that’s seldom quenched.

Some will feed your need for comfort

some remind you where you can be

Some will tell you about the chances

if you follow their ways in deed.

Why do words and pictures attract us

into places where desires rule?

Where faded dreams turn into hunger

until our wants make us the fool.

It started out with basic needs.

then it wandered through dry terrain.

Now the cry turns into greed

a new song ... the same refrain.
