Satire: Self-righteous

Romans 10:3 New English Translation (NET Bible)

For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God,

and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness,

they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

Self-righteous

Giving up in moments while hanging on for dear life

Every day is an experience that imprints the real me

It seems that expectation rests on another’s effort

And when it does not go through, then to within I flee

Battles seem always fought deep within my center

Where selfishness roams and seems to lead the way

It’s where the real me resides and rules with certainty

Where the piper blinds facts as someone else must pay

Depravity there is labeled: “You have a right to be”

As I interpret its consequence, I become the receiver

I have a right to survive, for God made me this way

And that makes Him responsible for me, “the" deceiver

“God is Love, and He is Good, ”  He loves everybody

That is now my motto, and I should be a leader of man

“Give me life and liberty,” for me, but not for others

They have to serve a more significant cause as I’ll show them

Jesus said: “The greatest will be he, who serves the most.

I agree with that, as I let others do the serving.

I’ll be the recipient so that others will be better

As I gather the rewards that I think I'm deserving

In the end, my friend, I’ll be standing tall

Every knee will bow, but I am the exception

For I am so exceptional, I answered the call

To serve the "self," I'm entirely in my selection
