Rosa Parks

Dignified, and beautiful as the sweat dripped down her dark skin.
It was a hot day outside, and miles behind her as she climbed in.
She looked and saw an empty seat, and she sat down
She didn't think her feet could make it to the backseats where her kind was found
Maybe they won't say anything? Maybe they will understand?
An elderly lady like me isn't a danger, why am I banned?
They demanded her walk just another few feet
She know her old bones wouldn't make it to the backseat.
No, she said. And that was all.
They took her in chains to town hall.
Arrested for what she believed in.
A women of color was never deemed a sin.
She sat for her people, and honor she now obtains.
For black men and white men, that freedom remains.
