Reminiscing

Proverbs 10:3 New English Translation (NET Bible)

The Lord satisfies the appetite of the righteous,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

Reminiscing

It appears at times that life is far beyond what’s real

And seems only understood through suffering and pain

Maybe there in the darkness, the true light is found

When the flesh is tranquilized and it can’t interfere

Lovely thought to be set free from its silly habits

To be lifted up and carried far beyond this sphere

Sleeping with one eye open seems self-defeating

Lingering in loneliness appears a crowded field

Sharing your life with only-ness here self-repeating

In the mental cloning of sorts until reality yields

Driving down on your way up with spikes of uncertainty

Everyone around you is fading into an appointed cast

While filling up the background in your fraternity

As into the selfish you bathe remembering the past

Darts are flying through spaces between good reasons

Nowhere there’s enough substance to fill these cavities

Many tried and failed to map out their own treason

As they cheated on life and self with its possibilities

Dragonflies and gnats sharing in flight

Driven by a sense of survival called instinct

Maybe in our lost-ness, we only need to get by

Satisfied with nothingness living on the brink

Eating out for breakfast meditating on lunch

Always a feeding frenzy to be satisfied

Some make a career of it and gather in a bunch

With them who’s never filled as their stomach cries
