Never Fade

You fade to your children

In their memories, you slowly die.

But for me, all I wonder is why?

You were there in times of sadness and shadows,

Times of smiles and sorrows.

Even when he decided to leave

You stayed unwavering.

But you were sick,

Slowly fading away in a white room.

You smiled

But didn't understand.

In the final minutes,

You left alone

In the darkness of sleep.

You were followed, though

By the man who left you,

To meet you in the lights of heaven's grace

And to see his child that died young.

When all else fades,

You remain.

To guide us in the darkest night

Until we see heaven's light.
