Masquerade

Location

Masquerades are amongst the most fun
With twinkling, blinding lights
All the sweaty faces are covered by crafted masks

A guise of feathers, checkers, or jewels
a mask with half smile and half frown.
I see a blue face, full of gaiety looking at
a yellow face frowning back
The gold mask moves erratically
Drawing the attention of all the  dancers
The purple, with upturned eyes
Barely noticing his dance partner
And the red crawls on hands and knees
Catching the broken pieces of masks
Fallen from the tired faces

Masquerades are amongst the most fun
With twinkling, blinding lights
And all the broken masks are covered by broken faces
