Letter to the Lover who Cheated and Shattered my Heart

Heart pounding, feet still.

Eyes open, mind closed.

Breath shortened, body weak.

All of the things you do to me.

You ripped my heart out when I looked in your eyes.

Told you the truth, which you had to disguise.

Questioning feelings, confusing not clear.

Perhaps you looked on, or simply didn’t hear.

“I love you!” I screamed through my rose colored eyes.

“Kiss me, and hold me, don’t wave this goodbye!”

You stroked my left cheek, and gave me your smile.

Crueler than words, how sleek your demise.

I live through these moments, pick myself right back up

But I can’t help wonder, what it all was about.

Was it laughter, or humor, or the warm summer sun?

Didn’t you always have my name on the tip of your tongue?

“Come with me here, help me with that”

You needed me, and that is a fact.
