Last July

I haven't cried since last July,

Over the inane heartbreak of a boy,

Foolish, pathetically in love,

Forcing the walls to rewind into a solid structure.

I haven't cried since last July,

I feel desensitized,

Walking as a ghost, with numbness coursing my viens,

The sunset almost evokes an emotion.

I haven't cried since last July,

Since then I've focused on what does not matter.

My sadness, my worth, my social competence,

I think I'll crawl back into bed.

I haven't cried since last night,

My medicine made its way out of my veins,

The tears tattooed the road into morning,

Yet still, nothing has changed.
