Falling Asleep On Different Clouds

Location

Pacing around in delicate circles, tracing the words that encompass the fire

The inextinguishable flame that ignites the one desire driving me mad

A beautiful and unforgivable dream

The capacity I feel within myself to slip into and out of characters

I could be a woman from my past life, drowning in sadness, picking up the pieces

Trying to find love in a loveless place

I could be a warrior, a martyr, another tangled up human just finding their way

I would scale the highest elevations, the deepest of trenches

I would gather my belongings, leaving a note

And a lock of hair on the kitchen table

And forget all the rest,

But remember where I came from

Adjusting my sundress, curling my shoulder length hair, practicing responses

A perfect interview,

With candy lips and curious eyes, I could be surrounded by lights, but still

Outshine

I would need the simplicity of myself and the bizarre world to wrap its arms snug around me

I would just need the sky to correlate with this strawberry-milkshake-of-a-dream

The marble floors to help my stride to sound like horse’s trot and intimidate

My prey

I would need just a push and a shove, to be where I belong

To be center stage and glowing

Glow, glow, glowing
