Escape Cinderella

Mop the floors,
Unload the dishwasher.
I’m so much more
Than what you think I am.
Make dinner,
Wash the laundry.
I want to do
So much more with my life.
Is this a waste of my time?
Is this a waste of my talents?
Cinderella is not who I am.
Is this a waste of my life?
I’m trying to escape Cinderella.
Break out of my prison,
Become who I want to be.
Drop the broom,
And the dishtowel.
Get out.
You’re so much more than Cinderella.
You’re a lover,
You’re a fighter,
You’re a crier,
You’re a survivor.
This is not my story.
I want to become the author
To my own fairy tale.
