A Coward's Sacrifice
Had I the courage, I would save the world
Save it from greed, poverty, malice, guilt
I would save it from itself
I would absorb all the pain in the universe so that others wouldn't feel it
Had I the courage, I'd do it
But I won't
Because all the pain in the universe makes every man, woman, and child on this planet feel alive
The moment one walks the line between life and death is the crux of anything and everything that ever mattered
From bruised cheeks to deep cuts, every heartbeat, every pump of fresh blood through dying veins is a gasp for air that is suddenly scarce or otherwise no longer fills the void within
Without death, what is life?
I won't change the world by making things better, by curing cancer or ridding it of poverty
Rather, I'll change the world by making it see what was once obscure
