Chains

There are chains that hold us all.
Simple words that tie us into a place
Where we stay, forced into our submission to the views of others

These chains are not metal and not meant to bring any pleasure.
There is no master standing,
Watching as we writhe and beg.

Bound by the views if society we seek our freedom,
Choose how the world now sees,
We have hide our real selves in the closets and under the bed

It is only we open the closets,
Accept ourselves and shed the labels that they gave us,
That we can shed their chains and replace them with our own.
