Boundless Love

I can’t love you the way that you deserve;

The way that you love me undoubtedly.

You overwhelm my thoughts, my heart, my world,

And yet you are completely unaware.

You cannot knowingly enter my heart,

For the wall of fear that you constitute

Within my heart protects me from the hurt

That I know will be inevitable.

It is painless to let my heart alone,

Let my pulse hasten from a cold heart’s touch,

To feel none but physical incitement

And let my heart stay free from devotion.

In this I control my own emotions.

In this I am safe from your boundless love.
