Being Loved

Being loved is a simple need

Whether it be intimate or friendly

You feel a sense of assurance when you are loved

Like your place, in the world, is whole.

When someone turns their back to your love you feel empty

You seek out someone to fill this gaping hole inside yourself.

Some seek out the one who hurt them,

And some rise above their pain

Search for someone who can treat them better

I applaud those for their courage

Because it is scary to walk into the unknown

We don’t know the love we may receive

And it can be scary

We don’t think we are worth more the love we are handed

But that is where people are wrong

Everyone is worth more

You do not deserve to be hurt

You deserve to be loved

Just as much as the next person

So rise above the pain inflicted to you

Walk away

Become better

Because I know everyone can

Even me
