Matthew 5:43-45 New English Translation (NET Bible)

 

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘hate your enemy.’ 

44 But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, 

45 so that you may be like your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise 

on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

 

Love

 

It has been stated … but not convincing,

that love surely is a choice.

It seems however that the love they seeing

is simply words …  and a faking noise.

 

Love divine … all love excelling

is a gift from above.

Can one direct that without expelling

the Author of that precious love?

 

If love is channeled through the Spirit

if not quenched by human will.

As its direction through obedience

will multiply the human thrill.

 

It is strange that man thinks

that he can direct the glow

of that adoring sweet fragrance

that fully warms the human soul?

 

Some men seem to survive by instinct

and some are depending on the stars.

Take your pick and search for direction

to some it is like an old used car.
