Knock! Knock! Someone is at the door-
But I am too scared to answer it
Thump. Thump.
I can do this, I just have to open the door
I approach the door
Thump. Thump. My heart is racing as I reach for the door knob.

I see the men in uniform
I hit the floor crying, screaming, praying
Is this real?
Why me? Why him?
Please somebody wake me up from this nightmare

The funeral home is full of men in uniforms
Family, friends, and people here just to honor him
He gave the biggest sacrifice for his country
Everyone is thankful for the gift of freedom he fought for
Hugs and apologies for my loss

Placed in the ground,
Flowers on top of the casket
Bang! Bang! the guns have sounded
And the bugles played
Another soldier has come home.
