Acceptance

Sat, 01/14/2017 - 17:41 -- pparres

When you're laughing till you're choking

You can easily swear

That you will wake up

Everyday for the rest of your days

But when you're crying as if you were drowning

And the walls are closing in

You promise to a nonexistent God

That you won't make it again

The days are bright and shiny

Fake smiles everywhere

Everyone thinks your life is perfect

And so do you of them

We wear our smiles so naturally

That it's almost hard to tell

How broken and sad we are

Until we are alone by ourselves

We open every scar we have

From the ones in our arms to the ones eating up our hearts

We let it happen over and over again

Just to feel something different from despair

We go nights without sleeping

Because we're so sure that nobody's there

We've fooled ourselves into believing

"Hell, I'm a mess no one can help"

But we're so wrong in every aspect

No one is too far gone for no one to care

We tell others to find the light at the end of the tunnel

Or that if everything's not alright then it's not the end

And that's close but not correct

Because this is life

Not some monopoly play

Where you can make money, pay debts, and win the game

In life not everything is okay

There's not always a light

And you are by yourself

But you learn to live that way, and accept the good and the bad because we're all we have left

Many call this acceptance

Others call it survival

I just call it as I see it

Accepting life as I live it
