Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

Invisibility comes with secrets
Kept hidden away from publicity
They cannot be exposed, because of bets
That friends will see it with simplicity
I am a speck of dust.
No, I am not alive;
Nor am I insignificant
I am a speck of dust, forever drifting, forever exploring,
and I might even settle down and rest
Much like Ellison's character,
I am an Invisible Man;
though not invisible by age or standing-
I hide in plain sight,
an outcast of both my races.
My father's people dismiss me
