mouths

Someone asked me the other day,
What would I change if I had the say?
It took me a while but I figured it out --
if I could change anything
I'd steal all our mouths.
Mouths
slightly open
like pitchers
holding whatever happens to be on our
tongues
waiting for words
to cool
to room temperature
as to not shatter
the glass
we pour them into.
