All of my heroes were housewives
Smoke a cigarette and pour me some wine
Pop me a pill and I'll start to unwind
Plump speckled hen
clutched to my chest
carried as a child
or as some other heavy
load.
And my husband with the rooster,
talons tied
- we made such a sight
even Tarahumara women laughed
On the back porch looking out of the screen
There is beauty that is before my eyes, with
The green hills that span miles and miles.
