in May I cut
my hair as short
as I dared
and stood before
you with bared
neck. and then
suddenly
I didn't anymore resemble
the little girl who sat on your lap,
looking up,
Since 2nd grade, thats how long it's been
I haven't cut my hair since second grade
It stretched it long luscious fingers down my back
A haircut
It all started with a haircut
seems kinda stupid
But there it is
Pleasant smiles
Suddenly became confused glares
Growing up,
my grandmother’s house was a second home to me.
Greeted by the smell of lavender and sweet peas,
she provided a safe haven
I may not style it as often as you’d like
But it was long, pretty and wavy.
You loved it when I grew it out
And you wanted me to keep it that way.
But now I can’t maintain its beauty
Nor its shine or shape.
