There’s a haunting shadow in my darkness
A reminder of the light
A fear of all the times
Where all the truths are stark
And so I find...
Close my eyes to see if I can hide for a while
From everything I’ve seen and said and done
But hiding in the darkness doesn’t extinguish...
I want to cry
Screw up my eyes and bawl
Scream into a void about the unfairness of it all
But the tears refuse.
