standing bloodred against the shadows
as we strive to hide.
Our feathers conceal tears

I was taught today that
Fear is a fallacy,
And Metum is Latin for it.
I was taught that
Fear can be unethical.
It makes me wonder...
My lips are swollen from worn-out apologies,
Joining my heart and mind in the broken brigade.
I am selfish when I pretend to be whole....
Time is a
soft and gentle mother,
who puts a steady hand on
the small of your broken back
and whispers, "It's time to
move on, sweetheart...
It seems to me that scabs bleed the longest
And paper cuts sting the worst.
Gunshots may take longer to heal, but I've heard that shock...
