Poems from dorris day
Father o father why do you cry?
Free the sparrow, let it fly.
Mother swathed in memories, holding me tight.
Release the shades, cherish...
I turned a corner and found her asleep.
Her body motionless,
like an unborn sheep,
Hair splayed across the floor,
like seaweed washed...
I turn my head to my conscious,
Starved of attention and subjected to abuse,
It screams like lost children,
So I close my mouth to muffle...
