Zoo ... noticing my blindness

Ephesians 4:7-10

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:

“When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”

(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

Zoo … noticing my blindness

Walking in the zoo ... searching for my double

looking in every cage ... among the captured lot.

All seem well fed ... but embraced in sorrow

of freedom not understood ... comprehending it not.

Most were born in captivity ... some trapped somewhere

like the human race ... locked in a speck of time.

Being on display ... in an artificial sphere

but in the mercy of the Hand ... Who feeds me and mine.

I can’t find my double ... all here are at rest.

Little dissatisfaction ... as life seems so accepted.

Not like the human race ... where envy is a test

and depravity rules ... crushing the neglected.

Maybe a peek into paradise ... a viewpoint of a zoo

while on the outside ... the battles are raging.

As politicians scheme ... in what next to do

while crushing “truth” ... prideful in parading.

I paid for a ticket ... to feel a sense of freedom.

I don’t have to pay however ... to live in captivity.

The choice may be mine ... where I love “my” living

unless I am trapped somewhere ... in the law of liberty.
