Yours truly, Susi
In a summery June,
when I heard about your death
my heart exploded.
in 2 billion pieces.
so many pieces,
it was like one of the snowstorms
that fall in New York
the one’s that my dad couldn’t
go to work
because the car wouldn’t
be able to move.
there was nothing I could do
I just had to watch them
fall.
But Mr. Time and Mrs. Wind had showed up
“what are you going to do,” I asked
“to clean up all the mess, darling.” Time said
and Mrs. Wind took the broom and looked in my eye
“underneath this matt”, *Broom* *Broom* She whooped
“deeper than your soul, darling.” She sung
“until.
one.
day,” said Time.
“you forget about them.”
Then they both ran out the door like children.
“Wait” I said, I wanted to ask:
“I still feel pain in my heart.
Is there a way I can get rid of that?”
but they were already too far.
The only one hearing my pleas
were the cold lonely walls.
So Pain became my close friend
she resembled my friend when she was alive
she had a beautiful smile
and her tail
she couldn’t stop wagging
when she heard my keys chime
To my surprise,
Time showed up again to my door
he said, “I come to take Pain for a walk,
have it walk away from your skin, that is
so you can stop
crying
at night.”
They left.
And a strange figure had stepped on my door
she was really old and dressed all in white
she had a name tag across her right chest
If I didn’t read wrong…
I think
it said,
“God?”
“I’m sorry your friend had to go,
I really tried to keep her alive,
but her mission on this earth
was done.
I hope you could understand that.
I know Time has showed up to help,
I’ll make sure
he keeps coming back
Just before I go
I want you to know,
Susie was really happy
when she was alive”
she vanished.
and I was left with a thousand questions in my mind
and tears, so
I cursed
a hundred times
until Time brought Pain back
she wagged her tail,
when she saw me cry.
If it wasn’t enough,
with the visits I had
a woman showed up
with a cape on her back
she gave me a warm hug
and said,
“My name is Love,
and I know you’ve been sad,
I come here to remind you
that Pain shouldn’t last.
I apologize for showing up so late
I should have
come sooner
to talk…"
Then Ms. Love petted Pain
on the head, and
Pain fell asleep
on her lap.
then she looked square in my eye,
and said
“Smile at your God
and thank Her
for the explosion there was
because it had left
a photography on the wall
not of Pain
just a reminder
of yours truly,
Love.”
