You Were Right

You called me pretty,

You called me smart,

As long as he and I were apart.

We fought for years

Thanks to your fears

Due to his angry words.

He yelled at me,

He bruised my knees,

And often made me cry.

You saw beyond his his wicked ways

Through my oh so foggy haze,

And tried to make me see.

Through years of tears

And months of fears

You finally watched me die.

He did what you knew he would,

What I never thought he could

But in the end, I died.

I'm sorry for not believeing you,

For knowing what you knew.

But in the end,

We lost, my friend

And in the end, adieu.
