YOU LET ME GO

You let me go

Your eyes spoke a thousand words of distance
You watched me pack what was left of a memory we once had
You didn’t say a word of I’m sorry for what had become of us
You just stood there with no emotion like I was a stranger passing by

You let me go
And didn’t care to try
The door closed behind me and the lock turned with relief
The hallway outside your apartment was dark
And lonely like an abandoned subway station

You let me go
As I walked down each step I felt confused and shocked
Step after step moving further and further from your eyes
Deep in my heart I waited for you to call out my name

You let me go
That gloomy afternoon a sad day I will never forget
I got closer to the lobby, I knew it would be the last time I would go up and down those cold marble steps.
You let me go so easy, like nothing mattered. Like throwing out the trash, getting rid of garbage in your life that meant nothing
You let me go....heartless
