YOU, I, WE

I am sorry…

For all the times you were left alone

Confused and abused.

For all the times you were scared

Neglected and rejected.

I am sorry…

For all the times you cried by yourself

Missing oxytocin, feeling…

Broken.

I am sorry…

For the way your innocence was stolen away

Before you had the words to say.

It’s not okay. It wasn’t right.

Demons should never invite themselves in and stay the night.

You were too young to be touched in that way…

Violated.

You were too young to understand and so you…

Isolated.

But you aren’t alone anymore.

I am here to fight our war.

You have protected us for so long,

But for a child, that is an ask too strong.

I am here to tell you…

It’s okay. We are safe now.

It’s okay to let your guard down.

I can take care of you and me,

You and I are now… We.

And WE have got this, no matter the pressure.

We are stronger together.
