You Can Only Filter So Much

Who am I beneath a social filter?

I'm not Ludwig, Lo-Fi or black and white

But pale and blue eyed with a crooked smile

Chewed nails, dead ends, frail arms and bad posture.

Who am I beneath a social filter?

Not Facebook likes or retweets on Twitter

But nice and fair, though my past disagrees

I am stronger than I ever used to be.

Who am I beneath a social filter?

Someone who feels pain as much as pleasure

Though I do not publicize it much

I fight battles everyday that go unknown

Above all that I am a real human

Imperfect yet shameless, cool but still kind

Caring for others as I do myself

As a human, life offers no filter.
