He wasn't right.

He was too big, too bright
and I wasted my time
chasing after someone
who didn't want to be caught.
I went in circles and through hoops
trying to please him, until
something tugged at my heart and I turned around and saw you.

(Because while I was watching him,
he was watching her,
but you
were watching
me.)

You are just fine, all mine
and you have a dimple
in your cheek
and a gap
in your teeth
and you sewed my heart back together
with one smile that danced around the edges of my mind all day.

Your voice
has a melody
that sounds like love.

He wasn't right,
but you are.
