You

Your body floats in my arms like a rose petal

drifting calmly across the surface of a pond-

so light the water is undisturbed and the surface is merely graced
with the simple beauty of its soft touch.

my arms are like the wind gently carrying you

like a leaf playfully dancing through the autumn air.

Your head lies on my chest like a ray of sunlight

filling me with warmth and contentedness.

you fill my heart like a calm fog drifting gently on a cool morning

you rest upon my shoulders as a butterfly rests on a blade of grass,

perched so delicately that I’m hardly aware of the presence.

your tiny hand fits into mine like a tendril of vine

reaching out to embrace a tree, creeping up it for support.
