A blinding light.

Scratchy sheets.

A piercing shrill.

Intoxicating smells.

My vision is fading.

My mind is failing.

I can't feel your soothing touch.

I can't hear your melodic voice.

I can't see your sparkling eyes.

I can't comprehend your words of comfort;

Nor can I feel the grip you have on my hand.

I feel my warmth leaving my body.

I feel my mind drift to space.

I feel my eyes close in exhaustion.

I feel my hand fall from yours.

I find your face.

I look upon it for one last time.

I take in your beauty; your grace.

I whisper your name.

All I want...

All I need...

Is to see you smile.
