I can breathe.
It only took
One look
At the year I’ve endured
And I laugh and I cry
And I thank the Lord.
The roughest, toughest
The antagonist.
The bane of a many existence.
The bully you’re taught to fear in year nine
I’ve defeated, crossed to the other side
We had a shoot out
And he got a couple shots in
But in the end I was the victor, though I have sinned
My wounds they bleed
But I have faith they will heal
But for now I’ll take this time to rest and regroup and remember
I lost some allies and gained new ones.
I witnessed love beginning and ending.
Tearful goodbyes that happen at crossroads
I’ve seen the confusion and the stumbling of the maybe lovers
And the tears and eventual acceptance of the wronged
I’ve seen the broken down and down trodden
And those who are at the pinnacle though they ought not to be
I’ve given up and I’ve fought harder
I’ve said my goodbyes, but my eyes never faltered or watered
I’ve broken down, towards the end I was more than weary.
I was ready for it to just be over, but I’ve made it
They’ve called my name in Red Rover.
The beast of the big bad west
Has been put to rest and now I sit at his grave
I thank him for what he’s taught me
Through my bruises and my tears, my laughter, joy, and fears
A new journey, just one more, awaits
But until I’ll rest here and wait.
Rest, Regroup, and Remember.
