To Write a Dream

Location

The World should be experienced

Not thought about

Learning should be a passion

Not an assignment

"I am stupid"

Believes a child because of one letter

"Learning is boring"

Says the adolescent whose curiousity was stiffled

This person is caged

They did not believe in him

So he does not believe in himself

Or in the world

And that it is ready to be learned about

He will walk home from school

From a minimum wage job

Holes worn in his shoes

From walking in place, going no where

He will shuffle up the stairs and trip

Over plastic bag of color and stories

Ready to be listened too

Ready to be learned

He will sit in a worn chair

He will close the doors of his bedroom and

Bury his nose in a publication of pure whimsy

No system, no pass fail, no letter grade,

No one telling him he can't understand

A photograph of a place

7.926.41 miles directly across from them

A curious story of someone listened to

And learned about

A magazine about anything and everything in the world

Information, simply for the joy of learning

A chance for he who can't move

To travel in his mind

And to believe that he is as wise

And as experienced

As any human

An opportunity for his stationary soul

To listen to a world that is more wonderful

Than his wildest fantasies.

oh, to be the author of such a dream...
