Would It Make a Difference?

If you weren't an ocean away, would that be the difference to make you stay?

If you got on one knee and put a ring on my fourth finger, would that be enough to make you linger?

If we had a cozy cottage on the lake, is that the change I've got to make?

If we were more in like, would that be enough to stop your 7/18 flight?

I'm sorry I cannot be in love, maybe that's why emotions could never be enough.

Oh, the things I would do to keep you near, but no amount of words or actions could ever be enough to keep you here.

So I'll lie here in your jacket, inhaling your fading scent, wondering what is in my control to make a difference.
