A World Unlike the Rest

The boy floats down the long and winding Nile

which roars like its inhabiting pests

that sting and bite and kill. All of the while,

his friend enjoys a world unlike the rest.

She rides amongst the herd of raging beasts

in the land that’s all unknown to we who

busy our lives. We don’t enjoy the feasts

which life divides to those so lucky few.

But now he and she end their second home

which is nuzzled into the aged bookcase

that harbors a mound of dramatic bends.

Now they must wait to travel back to Rome

or make the journey into outer space

because eventually, a book must end.
