The same picture that haunts my sleep will follow me into eternity.
My pride, my pride--how I lay thee down and bid thee never to return.
There is but one constant here.
We spent multiple nights under cloudy skies until the rain cleared the mud from our hearts and eyes and minds.
I think it was the smoke from our fire that tickled my soul while I slept and etched your name all the more firmly upon my heart.
And when we awoke the next morning to frost hanging upon the thin, icy air, you braved the cold to rekindle those flames so I wouldn’t have to.
To think, all this time I was looking for someone from whom I wouldn’t run, when at the very beginning I was blessed with someone willing to run alongside of me.
