Winter Comes

Numb the earth

The ice blue sky

is infinite

The birds are tossed

upon the wind

Ashes from the bonfire

dance in the breeze

and embers glow

sullen scarlet

as the old elm burns

A piercing cry

a hawk

shatters the leace

The old horse startles

in the meadow

Autumn is gone

Winter treads

a stately path

Diamond ice

in silver gaze
