Wings of Freedom

I fly as light breaks across the sky,

Fly as nature awakens and sings,

Fly as a spirit freed from conformity.

My heart and soul

Soar past the sky

And enter the starlit heavens

Of mystery and life.

My heart and soul,

Uplifted by light,

Break through the barriers

Of space and time.

But sometimes I fall to peril.

Stones of pain

Destroy my wings;

Waves of tears

Drown my soul;

The black holes of fear

Plunder my light.

Yet another kind light -

One of a true friend -

Always stops its flight

To ease a troubled soul,

To warm a cold heart,

And to mend a broken light.

With the light of another,

I soar again.

With the light of another,

I can finally breathe.

With the light of another,

I can be me.
